Fit to be tied

The course was finally starting to dry out last friday and it rained over the weekend soaking the course.  Another rain event monday nite and the course is completely saturated.  At the moment there is standing water in bunkers, on the fairways and even in the rough.

The grass is starting to grow but unfortunately the soils cannot withstand our heavy tractors.  I will start to mow some areas of the rough and fairways with our smaller lighter tractors.  The majority of  fairways and rough will not be mowed this week.  The bunkers will be fixed when they dry out. Heavy rain is expected Friday nite and this does not bode well for course conditions. The course is largely unplayable but we remain open for walkers.

So the good news is that we have completely cleaned up the property.  The tennis courts have been cleaned up, wind screens installed and tennis accessories have been put out.  I expect Putnam is behind schedule with all this wet weather.  I will reach out to them and see when they might resurface and prepare the courts.

The other good news is that im sending all paperwork for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf.  Vince McDermott had a display poster designed by his firm and there is one in the pro shop and other in the dining room.  Thank you Vince and Fran for your help and your involvement as we strive to meet our environmental goals.  I encourage any members that wish to get involved or know more about the program to please reach out to me, Fran, or Vince.

The staff and I installed a kestrel box on the 8th hole.  Im hopeful that we may get some activity in this box as well as the northern flicker boxes that were installed last last season.

The greens, tees and approaches are in great shape.  The property is really greening up with all this rain and warmer weather.  It wont be long now.  I appreciate your patience.
