When the frost is on the punkin

Ed Evers our former longtime golf professional would utter the above saying to me at this time of the year. We have had some very cool early mornings and some light scattered frost in the last two weeks.  I expect we will have a good hard frost sometime in the next two weeks which will signal the end of the growing season.

We have completed all disruptive cultural practices for the fall.  Fairway, tees, and approaches have been aerated and are healing over.  Thatchy areas in the rough and around the greens have been verticutted to promote a better playing conditions.  The weather has been excellent the last few weeks to perform these essential cultural practices all of which sets us up for next season.  The practice green and 1st green are healing over well and should be perfect in the very near future.

The grass is slowing down and we are slowly transitioning from mowing duties to fall cleanup.  The leaves are starting to change color and drop.

We will focus our energy into keeping the course clean and playable so you wont have to invoke the "leaf rule".  The coolers and other golf course accessories will be slowly disappearing and going into storage until next season.

The golf course looks and plays well.  The extended outlook on the weather looks great for golf and I hope to see you out in the fairways!
