Friday 10/12:

We dodged a bullet so to speak with only .67 inches of rain.  The river has stayed in its banks thankfully but the third hole has flooded out.  The course is open for walkers today.
Rain is expected tomorrow and Monday so carts will be permissible sometime next week.  Today the lower tennis court wind screens and accessories are being stored for the season.  The nets will remain up until Putnam takes them down for the season.

The staff is done for the season working weekends.  The growth on the greens is slowing down and with a recent application of a plant growth regulator they only need to be mowed every other day at most.  The staff and I only have a few more weeks of work. We will focus on breaking down the golf course, clubhouse bed clean up, and leaf cleanup on the property.

I am still hopeful that we have a stretch of dry weather in the next few weeks.  We still have to finish aerating tees.  Fairway aerification is out of the question at this point of the season.  I do expect to apply some sand to the greens.  I will try and give advance notice as not to surprise anyone.  We will have to close the greens and put temporary pins while we work on the greens.

We are expecting nighttime temperatures in the high 30s so i would expect frost soon. Please check the local weather before coming out to play early in the morning.  Typically the frost burns off by 930-10 am.

The season is winding down quick now.  I hope we have a few more nice days to get out and play some golf.  See you out in the fairways!
