Hurry up and wait

I never served in the military but always chuckle when I hear veterans use the phrase"Hurry up and wait".  Thats where the crew and I are right now.  We are all back on the property anxiously waiting for the snow to melt.  The rain and fog today will help speed this process up but it will be sometime before we can start spring cleanup on the property.

We are busy servicing equipment, adjusting reels, and getting caught up on all types of preventive equipment maintenance.  All our golf course accessories are being sanded and repainted as we do every spring.  In addition to equipment maintenance we built some new wood duck boxes and bluebird houses which will be a nice addition to the course.

I am cautiously optimistic about the health of the greens after this long winter.  Some of the greens we cleared of snow two weeks ago look ok.  The 7th and 1st green recently burned off of snow and ice.  As of today the 8th and 9th greens are still under snow and ice.  We may have some pockets on the greens that received winterkill.  Ill know better in a week once temperatures rise and I start to see some top growth.
Ill send out an update when I have a better understanding of the heath of the greens.  Until then Think Spring!
