Bonus Days

The golf course is in excellent shape and the weather has been nothing short of spectacular.  The greens are firm and rolling fast.   The grass continues to grow and we are still mowing all playing surfaces.  Last year we had a killing frost on October 13th so every day is a bonus.

The leaves are falling fast and we are trying to keep the course as clean as possible.  We are spending the majority of our time blowing, mulching and raking up leaves.

Since we have no planned projects this fall we are concentrating our efforts on our Audubon certification goals.  One of our goals is to remove invasive species on the course.  We have sprayed and chopped down the phragmites on the 3rd hole and near 9 tees.  Next spring we will monitor these areas and continue to try and eradicate these plants.  Long term plans include reintroducing native plant material.  With the phragmites gone it makes the 3rd look a lot different.

Ive been working on this course since 2006 and I cant remember such a great stretch of weather or course conditions for this time of the year.  Hope to see you out in the fairways!
