Thanks Irene!

Ive been at the club now since 2006.  Ive seen alot of floods... and some really bad ones.   Hurricane Irene is now the benchmark for all floods.

The 8th and 3rd green were underwater.  The second green(pictured below) had water within 12 feet of the green.  The club President who has been at the club since the 60s said he had never seen the water that high.

The water remained on the course for a week. As the flood waters were receding Tropical Storm Lee dumped another 7 inches.  Once again the course was underwater and we were unable to start the clean up process.

When the water receded we had 75 yards of sand and silt to clean up off the fairways.  The 5th hole had two bunkers that were washed away.  This movie of the 5th hole shows the ferocity of the storm.

The course was closed for a month.  Fortunately we had a nice fall and mild winter which aided in the establishment of the newly seeded fairways. The course recovered nicely for the 2012 season.
