Time to get dressed

We haven't core aerated greens since May 2018.  Mother nature wouldn't allow us last fall or this spring.

So what we will do is a less disruptive cultural practice.  On Tuesday June 4th, we will lightly dethatch the greens, apply a generous amount of sand then punch the greens with solid tines.  The preferred method of aeration is with hollow tines to remove organic matter but its the best we can do at this time.

This procedure will help reduce thatch and the small holes will get much needed air into the soil profile.  Lastly sand always help with ball roll and will make the greens a bit firmer and faster.

The greens will be a little bumpy this week but they should even out by weeks end.  We will have temporary pins in front of all the greens.  I hope to get all 10 greens done tomorrow and have them all opened up by the time we leave at 3pm.

The course is finally drying out and we are finally getting into a "normal routine maintenance".

I'm still working on migrating my blog to wordpress.  I'm having some technical difficulties getting it set up.  Once it is up and running i will close this blog down.

I was glad to see so many members come out last Friday and play golf.  Hope to see you out in the fairways again soon.
