Be careful what you wish for....
The property went from moderate drought conditions to roughly 5 inches of rain in a week!
We did need the rain just not all in a week! Especially the week of our Men's member guest. The rain coupled with the warm humid nights provided excellent recovery for our stressed our playing surfaces.
The down side is that the excessive soil moisture and high humidity all but killed my efforts to provide faster green speeds for this weekends tournament. All our greens are comprised of native soil with no drainage. So, when all the soil moisture percolates down they will naturally firm up and play faster.
We will be giving the greens a "day off" today. I will be needle venting the greens and not mowing greens. We will resume our normal maintenance procedure of mowing and rolling greens on Tuesday 7/31.
See you out in the fairways!
