Keep it in the short stuff

The golf course is in great shape and im glad to see so many members taking advantage of the pleasant conditions. The grass is growing faster than we can cut and we are trying our best to stay on top of it.  I appreciate your understanding and patience as we try and keep pace with this excessive flush of growth.  I expect the grass to moderate in the next few weeks as it gets hotter and drier.

The greens took along time to heal over but they are rolling well now .  I will lightly vertical mow and topdress the greens next week.  The topdressing will fill in any remaining imperfections and help smooth out the putting surfaces.

The new areas behind the 7th and 3rd green are coming in nicely.  The goal this year is to keep the Japanese knotweed at an acceptable threshold and to grow a nice stand of Kentucky bluegrass. The original golf course design had a tee box for the 8th hole in this area.  At this time there are no plans for this area.

A USGA Agronomist will be making a visit this week.  His last visit was 10 years ago.  His report and recommendations will be available at a later time.

Keep it in the short stuff!
